Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is an easy to process polymer, while chitosan is non-toxic, bio-degradable but unstable and has poor mechanical properties. Empty fruit bunch nanofiber (EFBN) of palm fruit, has good mechanical properties and degradable. This innovation produces nanocomposite films through solvent casting method from PVA, chitosan, combined with EFBN, as reinforcement for the composite. The test results shows that this nanocomposite material has superior physical, and mechanical characteristics compared to PVA-chitosan polymer. The addition of nanofiber improves degradability and thermal properties of the nanocomposite films.
