In Indonesia, propolis extraction usually comes from Apis melifera bee, but now the propolis can also be extracted from local Trigona spp honey beehives.
Using a mixture of alcohol and water with 70% concentration, the propolis can be extracted. In a trial such as using bacteria Staphilococcus aureus, Bacillus substilis, and Escherichia coli, Campylobacter sp, Pseudomonas sp, Streptococcus mutans, Klebsiella sp, Salmonela sp, Enterobacter sakazakii, the propolis can slow down the bacteria growth.
