The sexually transmitted human papillomaviruses (HPV) is reported to have spread wide all over the world. Almost all of cervical cancer cases are related to HPV infections, and HPV is also indicated to cause many other types of cancer. Lactoferin is a glycoprotein contained in milk colostrum, that has antiviral properties that inhibit the propagation of HPV. In an in-vitro test, it is proven that E1 HPV proteins can be eradicated by applying 1000 ppm of lactoferin from local goat milk (gLf). When successfully developed, the prospect of using gLf for therapeutical purpose can become a significant boost to the economic value of locally produced goat milk, to serve the global demand for HPV cures.
